The 4th of december 2009 i went to Brussels for the Council Conference. Council is a new think-tank of designers, thinkers, policy-makers and businessmen around the issue 'the future of the Internet of things'. The internet of things is better known by the RIFD Tag, a small tag that will be placed in your new passport, this tag will be the new barcode of the short future, with the big difference that this tag can 'communicated' with other devices and tracked everywhere in the world. This RIFD holds big promises for the future but also (and not the least) it brings a lot of dangers around issues of privacy, security and controlling governance. With the inevability of stopping this new technology we have to be prepared and think wisely about the challanges ahead. And that's what's Council in my opinion is trying to do. An inspiring day of meetings, presentations and 'interactive' workshops with top of the bill presentations from researchers, designers and policy-makers of Europe. Format23 was there to film the event and made small impressions of the day.You can find the impressions of the meetings and workshops @ Youtube Council Conference Channel The Council Conference was held in IMAL and organized by Rob van Kranenburg & Tinker it. |
